Tension Between Two Worlds

Day 3 is framed on Romans 7:15-25. This scripture is a potent reminder that my flesh is constantly tempted and pulled on by the tug (enticement and alluring familiarity) of sin.

It also, however, spotlights that my spirit is drawn to and delights in God and His law.

The tension between those two forces is real and often produces a frustration inside me. And, if I depend on the feelings and rationale of my flesh, I will choose poorly and walk in sin.

Without the Spirit and power of God in my spirit, sin would be the only (and overpowering) option. But thank God that’s not the case. God has given me His Spirit and I can choose to walk in obedience to His leadership (with the freedom, peace and blessing that goes along with that choice)!

“God, help me recognize the tension between those two forces today as a reminder that I can choose to follow the guidance of your Spirit  instead of the drive (and destruction) of sin.”
