Dialoguing With Doubt - A Recipe For Disaster

Day 2 of the LLC 21-day launch plan working through the One Minute Bible together opens with a section of Genesis 3. While meditating on the scriptures this morning, the Holy Spirit helped me see a pattern in Eve’s dialogue with the serpent in the garden of Eden.

Satan’s tactic to dislodge Adam and Eve from fellowship and communion with God opened with the question, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” causing them to at least open the idea of doubt or questioning God’s Word to them.

Doubt then facilitated deception which ultimately gave way to disobedience (i.e. sin).

Sin separated Adam and Eve from God (notice, they did the hiding…)

The same observable pattern is evident in life today: Doubt -> Deception -> Disobedience (sin) -> Distance (separation from fellowship / fearing God…) = a very Dangerous place to be!

My prayer: God, cause me to recognize this pattern anywhere in my life so I can stop this strategy in its tracks!
